The International Gymnastics Federation Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships returned to Bulgaria after 31 years and competition got underway in the ball and hoop disciplines.
The qualification process is a two day event, with half the gymnasts beginning with the hoop event and half performing with the ball.
Sofia Hosts the World Rhythmic Gymnastics Cup
From March 30 to April 1, 2018, Sofia hosts the World Cup of Rhythmic gymnastics.
The tournament will feature the best competitors from 34 countries around the world.
Bulgaria will be represented by our national ensemble as well as by the individual ensembles contestants Katrin Taseva and Boryana Calleine.

Bulgarian's national group team won a silver medal in 3 balls and 2 ropes at the World Challenge Cup, 2017 in Kazan, Russia.
The Bulgarian rhythmic gymnastics team came second only to the host country - Russia.
Nevyana Vladinova Wins Gold Medal at Sofia World Cup
Neviana Vladinova won her 4th gold medal at the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup in Sofia, this time at the ribbon routine, BNR reported.
She earned 17.400 points. Katsiaryna Halkina (Belarus) placed second with 17.100 points, followed by Bulgarian Katrin Taseva who won bronze medal.
Sofia World Cup 2017 Is Coming on 5 May
From 5th to 7th May Sofia, Bulgaria is one of the seven stopover cities where Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup 2017 is going to be held.
The difference this year is that the FIG World Cup circuit in Rhythmic Gymnastics includes four World Cup events and four World Challenge Cup events.
