SOFIA (Reuters) - Tens of thousands of supporters of Bulgaria's opposition Socialist Party (BSP) rallied on Saturday to protest poverty and corruption and demand an early election.

Dimitar Glavchev announced that he was resigning as speaker of Bulgaria's parliament on Friday after a meeting with Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, the leader of his party, GERB.

''The report under the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism (CVM) is a serious blow to Bulgaria'', the leader of Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), Korneliya Ninova, commented for BTV this morning, citing leaked information last night.

In her words, the European Commission could not come to a conclusion that any of the requirements was fully met.

GERB's new Facebook page, named 'Fake News - Register of Fake News, Lies, Propaganda and Dеception', has been active since Sunday and currently features around 10 posts, labelling statements by MPs from the Bulgarian Socialist Party, BSP - the largest opposition party in parliament - as false.
