Bill on same-sex marriage to be submitted in Parliament, vote on February 15

A long-awaited government bill legalizing same-sex marriage is expected to be introduced in Parliament on Thursday, Parliament Speaker Kostas Tasoulas said.

The legislation will be tabled to the relevant parliamentary committee on February 5 and on February 7, the relevant bodies will be invited to the committee to comment on it.

Former transport ministers summoned House meeting

Greek MPs ratify agreement for French jets

A 2.5-billion-euro deal for the purchase of 18 Dassault-made Rafale fighter jets from France was ratified by Greece's Parliament on Thursday evening.

The deal passed with an overwhelming majority, securing the support of opposition lawmakers from SYRIZA, Movement for Change and Greek Solution. The Greek Communist Party (KKE) and MeRA25 voted it down.

Ceremony held in solidarity with Italy

The Greek Foreign Ministry on Friday held a ceremony in solidarity with Italy where the death toll from the Covid-19 outbreak continues to rise.

Officials raised the flags of Greece and Italy as the two countries' national anthems played.

Varoufakis submits recordings of Eurogroup talks

The head of Mera25 party and former finance minister Yanis Varoufakis on Friday submitted to Parliament an envelope allegedly containing his secret audio recordings from the Eurogroup meetings while he was negotiating for Greece's SYRIZA-led government in the first half of 2015.
Varoufakis said he expected House speaker Kostas Tasoulas to forward the content to Greek lawmakers.
