Bulgarian MPs Approve Participation of Allied Aircraft in Joint Air Policing Missions

The Bulgarian parliament approved on Friday amendments to the Defence and Armed Forces Act allowing the participation of allied countries in missions on guarding the country's airspace.

A total of 96 MPs voted in favour of the joint air policing missions, 34 were against, while thirteen lawmakers abstained.

Expenses of Bulgarian MPs on Business Trips Amount to BGN 470 000

Bulgarian MPs spent nearly BGN 470 000 on business trips abroad since they have assumed office ten months ago.

The MP with most business trips abroad was the former Foreign Minister Kristian Vigenin, who traveled 18 times abroad in this period, his expenses amounting to more than BGN 9700, private bTV station informs.

Bulgarian MPs Reject Proposal for Limiting Sanctions Against Russia

The Bulgarian Parliament rejected on Wednesday to include the proposal, which calls for limiting the extension of sanctions against Russia, for discussion in its weekly agenda.

The proposal of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) was first rejected by the parliamentary Foreign Policy Committee on January 21, daily Dnevnik reports.

Prime Minister Boyko Borisov has reiterated Bulgaria's support for the Euro-Atlantic integration of Macedonia.

Responding to a question of former Foreign Minister Kristian Vigenin, Borisov stressed that the policy of the Bulgarian government on Macedonia was consistent and had remained unchanged.

The Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) demands that Bulgaria initiates the cancellation of the EU sanctions against Russia, said the party press office.

The BSP parliamentary group tabled in the National Assembly a draft proposal on the need of reconsideration of the EU policies on sanctions against Russia.

Vigenin Denies Moscow Pressure For Arrest of Kobliakov

Bulgaria's former foreign minister Kristian Vigenin denied insinuations that the arrest of Vladimir Putin opponent Nikolai Kobliakov is result of Moscow's pressure on Bulgaria. 

Vigenin told the Bulgarian National Radio that the authorities acted according to procedure and are not to blame that they did not recognise Kobliakov.
