The Romanian diplomat Lazar Comanescu received the position of Secretary General of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC), the Minister of Foreign Affairs Bogdan Aurescu said, adding that this nomination represents "a success for the Romanian diplomacy".

The US Navy will formally inaugurate its new missile defence base in southern Romania on Friday once construction of the base is complete.

There are still some tests to be run before the system is fully operational, most likely by April next year, according to Romanian officials.

The former foreign ministers of Romania gathered on Friday, on the initiative of the incumbent head of diplomacy Bogdan Aurescu, in the first Consultative Council of the Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE), to discuss the country's foreign policy priorities in its relation with the eastern neighbourhood, MAE informed AGERPRES in a release.

The relation with Poland is a priority to Romania, both on a European level and a trans-Atlantic level, being highlighted by the existence of a strategic partnership, and the two countries are connected by a common history of cooperation and solidarity in crucial moments, President Klaus Iohannis said on Wednesday, before leaving on the official visit he will pay to Warsaw.
