Cirstea, (30 years of age, WTA's 67th) won in one hour and 24 minutes to an opponent coming from qualifiers (31 years, WTA's 142nd).

Romanian tennis player Ana Bogdan on Tuesday qualified for the round of sixteen of the WTA tournament in Prague, equipped with prizes worth 202,250 US dollars, after defeating Australian Storm Sanders, 6-1, 6-1. Ana Bogdan (27 years old, WTA's 92) defeated Sanders (26, WTA's 275) in 1 hour and 16 minutes.

French Open defending champion, Romanian tennis player Simona Halep qualified for the third round at Roland Garros, in the Grand Slam tournament in Paris on Thursday, after a three-set victory against Polish Magda Linette, 6-4, 5-7, 6-3. Halep, 27 years of age, third seeded, won after two hours and 11 minutes against an opponent of the same age, WTA's 87th.

Romanian tennis player Ana Bogdan qualified for the quarterfinals of the WTA tournament in Monterrey (Mexico), with total prizes worth 226,750 USD, on Thursday, after she defeated Spanish Sara Sorribes Tormo, 6-2, 6-3.

Romanian tennis player Sorana Cirstea qualified on Tuesday for the second round of the WTA tournament in Qatar (the Qatar Total Open), with prizes worth 3.1 million US dollars, after defeating Greek Maria Sakkari, with a score of 6-2, 6-3.

Sorana Cirstea (aged 27, WTA's 38th) defeated her 22-year old opponent (WTA's 60th) after one hour and 13 minutes.

GUANGZHOU - Serbia's Jelena Jankovic will be defending her title at the Guangzhou WTA tennis tournament after beating Ana Konjuh of Croatia 7-5, 7-6 (9-7) in the semi-finals on Friday.

Jankovic won after 106 minutes of play and is now 2-0 head-to-head against the Croatian.

Bulgaria's top female tennis player Tsvetana Pironkova has prevailed against Ukraine's Lesia Tsurenko in the first round of the Apia International Sydney tournament on Sunday. 

Pironkova defeated Tsurenko 7-6; 6-2 to move to the second round of the tournament held in Sydney, Australia.

BELGRADE - Serbia's Jelena Jankovic has eased into the semi-finals of the WTA tournament in Indian Wells when her opponent Lesia Tsurenko of Ukraine retired with an injury in the second set.

Jankovic enjoyed a comfortable lead of 6-1 4-1 when world No. 85 Tsurenko pulled out with an ankle injury.

INDIAN WELLS - Serbian female tennis player Jelena Jankovic qualified for the Masters 1000 quarterfinal in Indian Wells, California, as she defeated Belinda Bencic of Switzerland in the match early on Wednesday, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.
