İlker Aycı, former head of Turkish Airlines' executive board and committee, was appointed the CEO of India's national carrier Air India, Tata Sons Group announced on Feb. 14. 

Aycı, who was chair of the Turkish Airlines for more than seven years, resigned on Jan. 27.

The top management of Turkey's flag carrier, Turkish Airlines, was overhauled on Jan. 27 after three members of its board and executive committee, including chairperson İlker Aycı, resigned from their posts.

Turkish Airlines has reported a net profit of $735 million in the first nine months of 2021, İlker Aycı, the flag carrier's chairman of the board, has announced.

"We managed to post profit at a time when other airlines, such Lufthansa, Air France-KLM and United Airlines recorded siginifcant losses.

The subsidiary of national flag carrier Turkish Airlines jumped three positions from last year.

Turkish Cargo had the "largest growth ratio among the top 25 air cargo carriers, with a 5.7% market share in June 2021," the statement said.

Turkish Airlines has now reached over 1,000 flights a day for the first time since COVID-19 struck, thanks to its successful performance during the current normalization period, the national flag carrier announced on June 26.

Now the company flies to 127 countries with a modern fleet of 365 aircraft, it said.

Turkish Airlines reaped $1.8 billion total revenue in the first quarter of 2021, down 29% year-on-year amid pandemic-related travel restrictions around the world, the flag carrier announced on May 4. 

Opening new routes in Europe and the Middle East, AnadoluJet, a subsidiary of national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, is set to increase flights to touristic hotspots on the Turkish Riviera this summer, it said in a statement on March 31. 

Turkey's service sector exports amounted to $65 billion as of 2019, the chairman of Turkish Airlines said on Dec. 25.
