Centeno confirms advanced post-program monitoring for Greece

At the latest Eurogroup meeting the European Commission recommended an instrument of "strengthened surveillance" for Greece after the completion of its bailout program.

This is according to a letter that Eurogroup head Mario Centeno sent to the council's members.

It also said Athens has not asked for a credit line.

In an exclusive interview with Kathimerini, Eurogroup Chairman Mario Centeno called on Greece to stick to economic reforms and avoid sliding back to policies that will not help the country emerge from the economic crisis. 

"Greece must fully undertake ownership of the reforms," Centeno said. 

Centeno warns of Greek vulnerability

Greece remains vulnerable to domestic and external shocks, the head of the Eurogroup, Mario Centeno, warned on Tuesday. The Portuguese finance minister also told the Athens-Macedonian News Agency that restoring its credibility in the credit market will be a gradual and not automatic process for this country.

Eurogroup President Mario Centeno told the European Parliament on Wednesday that Greece ought to assess and utilize all the mechanisms and tools at its disposal, thereby retabling the precautionary line of credit, as this is one of the instruments available.
