New York film critics name ’Drive My Car’ best film of 2021
The New York Film Critics Circle on Dec. 3 named "Drive My Car," Ryusuke Hamaguchi's intimate three-hour epic and Haruki Murakami's short story adaptation, the best film of the year.
Hamaguchi's film, about a widowed actor played by Hidetoshi Nishijima, has been widely hailed since its debut earlier in the year at the Cannes Film Festival, where it won for best screenplay.
And Palme d'Or Goess to... Julia Ducournau
Julia Ducournau's "Titane," a wild body-horror thriller featuring sex with a car and a surprisingly tender heart, won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival on Saturday, news wires reported. Ducournau became the second female filmmaker to win the festival's top honor in its 74 year history.

Star-packed Berlin film fest promises laughs in dark times
Penelope Cruz, Hugh Jackman, Catherine Deneuve, Richard Gere and Robert Pattinson are among the high-wattage stars due on the red carpet at the Berlin film festival, organizers said on Jan. 31 as they revealed the lineup.
The 67th Berlinale is the first major cinema showcase in Europe each year and presents nearly 400 productions from around the world.

Turkish actress, directors receive awards in Milan
Turkish actress Damla Sönmez, who won the Best Actress Award at the Milan International Film Festival for her role in the film "Deniz Seviyesi" (Across the Sea), received her award at a ceremony held in Milan on Sept. 9.
The festival was organized earlier this year in the Italian city between May 7 and 17.

Turkish actress best in Milan
Turkish actress Damla Sönmez has won the Best Actress Award at the Milan International Film Festival for her role in the film "Deniz Seviyesi" (Across the Sea). The festival started on May 7 and will continue until May 17 in Italy.
The directors of the film, Nisan Da? and Esra Saydam, also won the festival's Best Director Award.
