İhsanoğlu condemns UN, stresses disproportionate use of force by Israel in Gaza

Turkey’s presidential hopeful Ekmeleddin İhsanoğlu, the former chief of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), has criticized the U.N. Security Council for its failure to condemn the “disproportionate” use of force by Israel against the Palestinians.

Ankara has voiced support for the new unified government between Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’ Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and Hamas and has urged the international community to also support the move.

Ankara believes the newly formed government will eventually help build sustainable peace in the Middle East.
