Economic growth forecast for 2023 halved, upgrade this year

Ljubljana – The Institute of Macroeconomic Analysis and Development (IMAD) has upgraded its growth forecast for the Slovenian economy for this year by 0.8 percentage points to 5% despite the energy crisis. However, it corrected significantly downwards the outlook for 2023, halving it from 3% in spring forecast to 1.4%.

NGO collects necessary signatures for repeal of several laws in one day

Ljubljana – The 8 March Institute has already collected enough signatures to introduce a bill aimed at repealing several government-sponsored laws that the NGO finds harmful. The campaign started on Wednesday and the minimum threshold of signatures, 5,000, was crossed already that day, said the NGO, which aims to get 60,000 signatures.

Government to discuss new epidemic measures at Friday meeting

Health Minister Janez Poklukar has said that healthcare is at capacity, noting that there is no other way than to restrict social life in the coming days.

Mask rule being relaxed somewhat

Ljubljana – The government has somewhat relaxed the mask wearing rule at Wednesday’s session. The masks will thus no longer be needed in indoor public places where food and drinks are being served or in situations and settings when everyone is immunised against Covid either through vaccination or recovery.
