Young artist's Syntagma show impresses with symbolism

Informed visitors and passers-by at Syntagma Square in central Athens were treated to a rare sight on the night of April 27, as the lights went off suddenly on the Grande Bretagne side of the public plaza, and for a few minutes the hotel's facade became a huge screen for the "BedSheets" art project, an initiative conceived and realized by a young artist.

Setting art free in Syntagma Square

On Thursday at 9 pm, internationally renowned artist Maria Fragoudaki will surprise Athenians by attempting an artistic happening based on an idea of her own and realized in collaboration with the performance artist Anastasia Argyriou, who studies Art Psychology. This will be a visual event never seen before in Greece.

Experimenting with art

The Jewish Museum of Greece is in a pretty, salmon-colored neoclassical building with gray shutters on Nikis Street, which links Syntagma Square and Plaka in central Athens. I had passed it many times without entering. I finally did so to see the exhibition "FORM/Less" by young artist Maria Fragoudaki.
