Mariya Gabriel Answered More Than 50 Questions During Her EP Hearing

Bulgarian Commissioner and candidate for second term Mariya Gabriel answered more than 50 questions during a hearing at the European Parliament in Brussels. MEPs have given excellent ratings to her.

If approved, Maria Gabriel will be in charge of the "Innovation and Youth" portfolio of the new European Commission, which takes office on November 1st.

The newly elected President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, is visiting Bulgaria.

 

In Sofia, she will meet with Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov. The visit is part of the consultations that Ursula von der Leyen  holds with EU Member States leaders before the full membership of the new European Commission is presented.

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov will meet with the newly elected European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen tomorrow in Sofia, the government press service announced.

During their working meeting at the Council of Ministers, the two will discuss different topics on the European agenda and on world politics.

Politico: Bulgaria Wants ''Agriculture'' Department in the New European Commission

Bulgaria wants its current EU commissioner, Maria Gabriel, to receive the agriculture department of the new European Commission, Politico reported. Currently, Gabriel is responsible for the Digital Economy and Digital Society.

"We are interested in the agricultural portfolio," a Bulgarian diplomat told the newspaper.
