Serbian Women’s Basketball Team Win European Championship
The Serbian team defeated France 63-54 in the Women's EuroBasket final in Valencia in Spain on Sunday to win the European championship for a second time, after a six-year gap.
France had been widely tipped as likely winners, but Serbia's coach Marina Maljkovic said after the victory that her team deserved the trophy.
Stevan Karadzic named successor to Marina Maljkovic
BELGRADE - The Executive Board of the Basketball Federation of Serbia on Wednesday named former Red Star Belgrade player Stevan Karadzic as the new head coach of the Serbia women's national basketball team.
Karadzic will succeed Marina Maljkovic, who led the team to a European championship title and an Olympic bronze in Rio.

Serbian women's basketball team wins European Championship
Serbian women's basketball team won the European Championship title, after the girls defeated France late Sunday, by 76:68 (15:22, 18:10, 20:17, 23:19).
The team coached by Marina Maljkovic made the greatest success for women's basketball in Serbia, as this was the first gold in a big competition.
Serbia takes 17th place on FIBA list
BARCELONA - The Serbian female basketball team improved their ranking on the FIBA list by 12 positions and climbed to the 17th place.
The team coached by Marina Maljkovic scored the biggest progress on the list after they claimed the eighth place at the world championship in Turkey.
