Dnevnik critical of NIJZ covid strategy

Ljubljana – The newspaper Dnevnik is critical in its commentary on Saturday of the strategy put forward by the National Institute for Public Health (NIJZ) to cope with the coronavirus in autumn and winter. It suggests the strategy should be more restrictive to protect the vulnerable groups. At first glance the recommendations are transparent, easily understandable and sustainable.

Cancer patients say Covid infections influx causing delays in treatment

Ljubljana – The umbrella organisation representing cancer patients in Slovenia, Onko Net, expressed grave concern in the face of fast growing coronavirus infections in the country, which has already started causing delays in cancer treatments at some hospitals. Institute of Public Health now in charge of pandemic management

Ljubljana – A new advisory group for Covid-19 at the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ) has been formed, a move that Health Minister Danijel Bešič Loredan said meant the management of the pandemic has now been taken over by experts. Ljubljana – About a year into the Covid-19 pandemic, the EU is better prepared to the crisis than at the beginning and better coordinated, agreed participants of Friday’s online debate hosted by the office of the European Parliament in Slovenia. Currently, the EU has high hopes of Covid-19 vaccines but is faced with problems in their supply, they said.

1,267 coronavirus cases on Wednesday as hospitalisations drop below 1,000

Ljubljana – Slovenia reported 1,267 new coronavirus cases from 14,545 tests on Wednesday as the epidemiological situation kept improving. Hospitalisations dropped below 1,000 for the first time since early November. Further 16 Covid-19 patients died, fresh official data show.
