Agreements For Financing the Gas Connection Bulgaria - Greece Are Signed

Several gas-to-gas agreements between Bulgaria and Greece have been signed in Sofia. The treaties were signed by the line ministers of the two countries - Temenuzhka Petkova, Konstantinos Hatzidakis, shareholders, the European Investment Bank and BEH.

The two ministers also signed an additional tax regime agreement for the pipeline for 25 years.

Two Workers Were Seriously Injured in an Incident at TPP Maritza East 1

Incident at TPP Maritza East 1 happened last night. Two people were seriously injured and were transported to a hospital in Stara Zagora.

The workers were gassed and fell into a shaft they were cleaning. One of the men felt unwell when he got off. The other guy who tried to pull him out also suddenly felt unwell 

So they both fell into the shaft.

AES 'Committed to Bulgaria' as Power Purchase Agreement Challenges Loom

Brussels — US company AES remains committed to its Bulgarian power assets as it deals with changes in market structure, in its generation agreements and in air quality controls, the president of AES Bulgaria, Olivier Marquette, told S&P Global Platts in an interview.

Electricity Consumption in Bulgaria Up 2.5% in 2015

Consumption of electricity increased in 2015, reversing a downward trend observed in the past four years, an official with Bulgaria's Electricity System Operator (ESO) has said.

The Central Dispatching Unit of ESO is the unit coordinating regimes of the electricity system and providing for its smooth and efficient functioning, also in charge of organizing the electricity market.

No Price Caps Discussed for Power from AES, ContourGlobal Plants in Bulgaria, Regulator Says

Bulgaria's energy regulator KEVR said on Wednesday that it hasn't discussed capping prices of electricity purchased by state-owned National Electricity Company NEK from two local thermal power plants owned by U.S. investors.

"We fully comply with the provisions laid down in the Energy Act," KEVR Chairman Ivan Ivanov told reporters, according to investor.bg.

AES, ContourGlobal Quit Bulgaria's Biggest Employer Association over TPP Row

US-based companies AES and ContourGlobal, which own two of Bulgaria's largest thermal-power plants, have submitted declarations that they are leaving one of the key employers' organizations in the country.

Both were, until now, members of the Confederation of Employers and Industrialists in Bulgaria, or CEIBG (also increasingly known as KRIB).

Bulgarian Employers Urge Price Caps on Power Purchases from AES, ContourGlobal Plants

The four nationally-represented employers' organizations in Bulgaria - BIA, BCCI, BICA and CEIB - have asked the government to suspend payments above market prices for electricity generated by AES Galabovo and ContourGlobal Maritza East 3 power plants.
