After the talks, Putin gave an order to his assistant for economic issues, Maxim Oreshkin, to contact the German side, in order to clarify the mechanism for paying for gas in rubles, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced today.

A Surprising Contraction of the Russian Economy in November 2017
Russia's economy shrank surprisingly in November 2017, mainly as a result of declining industrial production, BNR reported. National radio refers to the ministry of economy, quoted by Reuters.
Gross domestic product declined by 0.3% in November compared to a year earlier, thus defeating forecasts by economists and analysts for growth of 1.5 percent.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has appointed Deputy Finance Minister Maxim Oreshkin as the new Minister of the Economy.
Oreshkin is replacing Alexey Ulyukayev who was arrested on charges of corruption and fired due to losing the trust of the head of state.
