Turkey claims more than 1% share in global exports for 1st time

Turkey's share in global exports has surpassed 1% for the first time in its history, the country's trade minister announced on Oct. 19. 

"This figure was 0.14% in 1980 and 0.43% in 2000. Turkish products are now exported to all over the world," Mehmet Mus said on Twitter, citing data from the World Trade Organization and the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK).

President Erdoğan arrives in Angola, begins diplomacy tour in Africa

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan arrived on Oct. 17 in Angola's capital Luanda, the first leg of his mini-tour of three African countries, also including Nigeria and Togo.

Erdoğan was welcomed by Angola's Foreign Minister Tete Antonio and Alp Ay, Turkey's ambassador to the Southern African nation, at Quatro de Fevereiro International Airport.

Turkish gov’t looks beyond its proximity to ramp up exports

The Turkish government aims to add $80 billion to the volume of its exports with its "faraway countries strategy," Trade Minister Mehmet Muş said in an interview on Oct. 7. 
"Turkey carries out 65 percent of its exports within an area of 2,000 kilometers. We often don't go further away," Muş told private broadcaster NTV.

Turkey vows to boost trade ties with Azerbaijan

Turkey's trade minister on Sept. 10 pledged to further develop business relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan.

"Trade relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan are very good. We want to develop this further," Mehmet Muş, who is in Azerbaijan's capital Baku to attend Turkic Council's 10th meeting of ministers in charge of the economy, told reporters.

Turkey's exports reach all-time high August figure

Turkey's exports hit an all-time high August figure with $18.9 billion, Trade Minister Mehmet Muş announced on Sept. 2.

Citing preliminary figures, Muş sad the country's exports surged 52 percent from the same month last year.

"With this strong momentum achieved in our exports, we surpassed the pre-pandemic performance," he said.
