Turkey, Malaysia resolve to expand free trade agreement
The Turkish and Malaysian trade ministers signed on July 13 a joint declaration to expand the existing free trade agreement (FTA) between the two countries.
The decision was made in a meeting between Mehmet Muş and his Malaysian counterpart Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali in the capital Ankara.
Turkey's exports to EU top $40 bln in first half of year
Turkey's exports to EU countries this January-June soared 42 percent on a yearly basis to reach $40.86 billion, according to official figures.
The country's overall exports were up 39.9 percent to $104.98 billion in the same period, according to data compiled by Anadolu Agency from Turkish Exporters' Assembly (TİM) figures.
Turkish exports break records in June, first half of year
Turkey saw record high exports in both June and the first half of 2021 thanks to the country's strong performance since the beginning of this year, the trade minister announced on July 2.
Turkish exports reached $19.8 billion in June, up 47% from the same month last year, Mehmet Muş said, citing preliminary foreign trade figures.
Over 6 tons of drugs seized this year, says minister
A total of 6.1 tons of drugs and 15.2 tons of materials used for drug production have been seized this year, Trade Minister Mehmet Muş has said.
He noted that earlier this month, customs officials first seized 1.3 tons of cocaine in a shipping container at the port in the southern province of Mersin.
1 ton of cocaine seized at Mersin Port
Custom enforcement officers have seized 1 ton of cocaine at the Mersin Port in southern Turkey.
This is the largest amount of cocaine ever seized in the country, Trade Minister Mehmet Muş said on Twitter, congratulating the General Directorate of Customs Protection units for the "successful operation."
