Turkey eyes comprehensive free trade pacts to boost exports

Turkey has been building a new generation of comprehensive free trade agreements (FTAs) ​​that include services, investments and public procurement in order to increase exports, strengthen the competitiveness of the industry and attract foreign capital, the country's trade minister said on Aug. 17.

President Erdoğan receives Libyan premier in Istanbul

Turkey's president on Aug. 7 received the visiting prime minister of Libya.

Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Libya's Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh had a one-on-one closed-door meeting at the Vahdettin Mansion in Istanbul that lasted for an hour-and-a-half.

The leaders later attended a meeting between by the countries' delegations.

Turkey's exports to EU top $40 bln in first half of year

Turkey's exports to EU countries this January-June soared 42 percent on a yearly basis to reach $40.86 billion, according to official figures.

The country's overall exports were up 39.9 percent to $104.98 billion in the same period, according to data compiled by Anadolu Agency from Turkish Exporters' Assembly (TİM) figures.

Turkish exports break records in June, first half of year

Turkey saw record high exports in both June and the first half of 2021 thanks to the country's strong performance since the beginning of this year, the trade minister announced on July 2. 

Turkish exports reached $19.8 billion in June, up 47% from the same month last year, Mehmet Muş said, citing preliminary foreign trade figures.
