Turkey has been building a new generation of comprehensive free trade agreements (FTAs) that include services, investments and public procurement in order to increase exports, strengthen the competitiveness of the industry and attract foreign capital, the country's trade minister said on Aug. 17.

Some 30,000 people visit ‘Van Cat Villa’
Some 30,000 people have visited a center in the eastern province of Van, where rare Van cats have been put under protection, since June 1.
Van cats are domestic cats found in the Lake Van region that are famous for having heterochromia (having one eye of blue, the other of amber color).

Turkey, Malaysia resolve to expand free trade agreement
The Turkish and Malaysian trade ministers signed on July 13 a joint declaration to expand the existing free trade agreement (FTA) between the two countries.
The decision was made in a meeting between Mehmet Muş and his Malaysian counterpart Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali in the capital Ankara.

A court in Istanbul has ordered the arrest of Mehmet Aydın, the founder of the online Çiftlik Bank (Farm Bank) Ponzi scheme.
Aydın, 29, surrendered to the Turkish Consulate in Sao Paulo, Brazil and was arrested at the Istanbul Airport as soon as he landed on July 3.

Turkish court remands alleged Ponzi scheme creator
A Turkish court on July 7 remanded in custody the alleged creator of an online Ponzi scheme game who was brought back to Turkey last weekend.
Mehmet Aydın, 29, had surrendered to the Turkish Consulate in Sao Paulo, Brazil and was arrested at the Istanbul Airport as soon as he landed on July 3.
