Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu offered condolences to his Iranian counterpart Javaad Zarif in a phone conversation on Nov. 13 for the victims of a powerful magnitude 7.3 earthquake that hit the region late on Nov. 12. 

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will visit Greece in late November or early  December, according to Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias.

Kotzias made his remarks at a press conference in the wake of his visit to Turkey this week.

When Turkish officials were scrambling to resolve an escalating dispute with the US, their Nato ally this month, they had a plan.

Turkey could seek a deal to acquire a missile defense system with another country if Russia does not agree to joint production of a defense shield, its foreign minister was quoted as saying on Monday, quoted by Reuters. 

Ankara may drop the intention to purchase S-400 air defense systems from Russia, if no agreement on their joint production is achieved, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu told the daily Aksam in an interview.

Russia and Turkey on Friday signed an agreement which has Ankara make a down payment on an advanced anti-missile air defense system.

 Turkey had previously indicated that it was interested in buying the Russian S-400 anti-missile air defense system to boost its air defense stature.

Russian President Vladimir Putin will travel to Ankara on Sept. 28 to meet President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan with a wide range of topics on the agenda: The Astana process on a cease-fire in Syria, the independence referendum held by the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), and Ankara's purchase of Russian S- 400 missile defense systems.

"We never thought Barzani would make such a grave mistake. It appears we were wrong," Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan said on Sept. 26, referring to Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) leader Masoud Barzani's decision to hold a referendum on Sept. 25 on separating from Iraq, along the border with Turkey.
