In a pivotal moment for Bulgarian football, the Bulgarian Football Union (BFS) convened an extraordinary congress at the Marinela Hotel in Sofia to elect a new president after the resignation of Borislav Mihaylov, who held the position for 18 years. The congress, which commenced at 10:30 a.m., saw the emergence of seven candidates vying for Mihaylov's former position.

The Bulgarian Football Union will initiate a meeting between Prime Minister Boyko Borisov and the bosses of professional football clubs because of the pressure on the referees and the tensions surrounding the games in the First League lately, said Borislav Mihaylov.

Prime Minister Boyko Borisov met with UEFA President  Aleksander Ceferin, reported BGNES. 

The Minister of Youth and Sports Krasen Kralev participated in the meeting. The main focus of the conversation was the deepening of the good communication with UEFA and FIFA in the interest of the development of Bulgarian football.

Bulgaria will have a record number of representatives in the committees of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA).

This became clear after the first meeting of the newly elected executive committee of UEFA in Prague, daily Dnevnik reports.
