Swiss skier Suter wins last downhill before Olympics

Slovenia’s Slokar earns first win in Alpine Ski World Cup

Lech – Andreja Slokar won the parallel giant slalom event in Lech/Zürs in Austria on Saturday as part of the Alpine Ski World Cup to take the overall lead in the competition. This is the fist career win for Slokar and also the first win ever for Slovenia in parallel giant slalom.

Kranjska Gora ski resort hosting 57th Golden Fox meet

Kranjska Gora – The Slovenian ski resort of Kranjska Gora will host over the weekend two Alpine Ski World Cup giant slalom events for women in what will be the 57th Golden Fox meet. The event usually takes place in Maribor but has been moved the second year running due to a lack of snow amid mild and wet weather.

Halep nominated for Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year 2019 award

Romanian tennis player Simona Halep has been nominated for Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year 2019 award, which will be presented at the 2019 Laureus World Sports Awards scheduled for Monday evening in Monte Carlo, Monaco.

Halep is competing with American gymnast Simone Biles, Czech skier Ester Ledecka, German tennis player Angelique Keber and American skier Mikaela Shiffrin.
