Beijing – Slovenia did not make it past the quarter-final of the mixed team parallel slalom on the last day of the Beijing Olympics, finishing 7th out of 15 teams overall after being eliminated by Austria, who went on to win gold.

Suter had a dominate performance on Jan. 29 to finish 0.51 seconds faster than Swiss teammate Jasmine Flury for her first World Cup victory since Dec. 18, 2020. Cornelia Huetter of Austria was third, 0.78 behind.
Slovenia’s Slokar earns first win in Alpine Ski World Cup
Lech – Andreja Slokar won the parallel giant slalom event in Lech/Zürs in Austria on Saturday as part of the Alpine Ski World Cup to take the overall lead in the competition. This is the fist career win for Slokar and also the first win ever for Slovenia in parallel giant slalom.
Skier Meta Hrovat wins bronze at World Cup finals
Lenzerheide – Slovenian alpine skier Meta Hrovat placed third in women’s giant slalom at the FIS World Cup finals in Lenzerheide, Switzerland on Sunday in what is her fourth podium finish in her career. New Zealand’s Alice Robinson won the race.

Kranjska Gora ski resort hosting 57th Golden Fox meet
Kranjska Gora – The Slovenian ski resort of Kranjska Gora will host over the weekend two Alpine Ski World Cup giant slalom events for women in what will be the 57th Golden Fox meet. The event usually takes place in Maribor but has been moved the second year running due to a lack of snow amid mild and wet weather.
Halep nominated for Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year 2019 award
Romanian tennis player Simona Halep has been nominated for Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year 2019 award, which will be presented at the 2019 Laureus World Sports Awards scheduled for Monday evening in Monte Carlo, Monaco.
Halep is competing with American gymnast Simone Biles, Czech skier Ester Ledecka, German tennis player Angelique Keber and American skier Mikaela Shiffrin.
Swede Hansdotter wins gold, no medal for Shiffrin
Sweden’s Frida Hansdotter won gold in the women’s slalom on Feb. 16 as defending champion and clear favorite Mikaela Shiffrin of the United States failed to even reach the podium.
