Petrol bomb attack on councillor’s home condemned
Ljubljana – Senior Slovenian officials have condemned Friday’s petrol bomb attack on the house of Vesna Fabjan, Kočevje local councillor for the Marjan Šarec List (LMŠ). President Borut Pahor called for tolerance and mutual respect.

Govt to change colour-coded strategy with tier red kicking in Monday
Ljubljana – The government will overhaul the coronavirus exit strategy today to somewhat relax restrictions applying to each of the five-coloured stages. Stage red would kick in on Monday lifting night curfew, keeping schools and kindergartens open like before 1 April while not allowing public assembly.
Hoteliers barely able to keep their heads above water
Ljubljana – The head of the Slovenian Hoteliers’ Association, Gregor Jamnik, has described the situation in the industry as disastrous, warning that the bulk of businesses are not generating any revenue and even though most are still able to keep their heads above water, they will need long-term state aid as the industry will not fully recover in a decade.
Slovenia to get 100,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine fewer than planned
Ljubljana – A new shipment of the AstraZeneca vaccine arrived in Slovenia on Thursday, containing 14,400 shots, the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ) told the STA. However, in the next couple of weeks, 100,000 doses fewer than planned will be supplied, the NIJZ added.
881 new coronavirus cases, four deaths in Slovenia on Thursday
Ljubljana – The daily count of coronavirus cases dropped to 881 on Thursday, when 5,435 PCR tests were performed for a positivity rate of 16.2%, a further drop compared to the day before. The number of people in hospitals today increased somewhat to 521, including 85 in intensive care, government data show. Four patients died, the same as the day before.
Slovenia to seek “additional options” for vaccines
Ljubljana – Prime Minister Janez Janša has announced that Slovenia will look for “additional options for vaccine supplies” amidst sluggish supplies from the joint EU purchase.

Journalist organisations decry govt PR strategy as censorship
Ljubljana – The Slovenian Journalists’ Association (DNS) and the Trade Union of Slovenian Journalists (SNS) have come out strongly against what they see as censorship following media reports that some government officials and advisers failed to get clearance from the Government Communication Office (UKOM) to appear on news shows. UKOM rejected the claims.
Efforts to reopen schools continue
Ljubljana – After protests calling against closure of schools in black-tiered regions were held in a number of towns this weekend, calls for reopening of schools from a several stakeholders continued on Monday.

Vaccination plan presented as vaccination of elderly over 80 starts
Brdo pri Kranju/Ljubljana – PM Janez Janša and NIJZ director Milan Krek presented Slovenia’s vaccination plan until the end of June, as vaccination was launched around the country on Tuesday for the elderly who are not in residential care and are older than 80.
Slovenia’s Covid-19 death toll passes 3,000
Ljubljana – Slovenia’s total of deaths among Covid-19 patients since the start of the pandemic has passed 3,000 after a further 24 died on Sunday. Another 426 people tested positive as test positivity rate dropped.
