Dairy that made buying local a success story
Based in Kobarid in the north-west of the country, Mlekarna Planika is Slovenia's fourth largest dairy. What makes it special is that it sources all its milk locally, mostly from farms in the Alpine region of Posočje. Part of its success is that the farmers indirectly own the dairy through their cooperative.

Flood waters recede, Osilnica still cut off
Osilnica – Flood waters in the south of the country are receding as the sun broke through the clouds on Sunday to expose the extent of the damage after three days of heavy rain. One of the most badly affected towns, Osilnica is only accessible by road via Croatia.

Kolpa river in flood, others swollen
Ljubljana – The water levels of rivers have increased overnight due to heavy rain, and the Kolpa river is flooding. Some other rivers, including the Ljubljanica and Krka, are likely to run over their banks as well. Most river levels will start to recede in the afternoon and will continue to do so in the coming days, the Environment Agency (ARSO) said.

President decorates Independence War unit
Slovenska Bistrica – President Borut Pahor decorated on Saturday a former Territorial Defence unit based in Slovenjska Bistrica with the Order of Freedom for having taken over a weapons facility from the Yugoslav National Army (YNA) during Slovenia’s 1991 Independence War, a move that greatly contributed to Slovenia’s success in the war.

Survey shows youth more independent, but with poorer mental health
Ljubljana- The Youth 2020 survey into the youth in Slovenia shows that, compared to ten years ago, they are noticeably more active, responsible and independent, while on the other hand they face greater housing problems and more precarious work in the labour, with their mental health also having deteriorated.
