Mircea Draghici

Treasurer of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) Mircea Draghici was officially charged by the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) for embezzlement and using subsidies for purposes other than those they had been intended for, in a case dealing with the spending of the money received by the party as subsidies.

Social Democrats Daniel Suciu and Razvan Cuc on Friday were sworn in office as deputy prime minister and minister of regional development and public administration, and minister of transport, respectively, at a ceremony at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace. Attending on behalf of the Government were several ministers. Prime Minister Viorica Dancila did not attend, as she was in Madrid.

President Klaus Iohannis stated on Monday that the Government's proposals for the Transport and Regional Development Ministries, namely Mircea Draghici and Lia Olguta Vasilescu, will be yet again rejected.

Premier Viorica Dancila on Thursday sent President Klaus Iohannis a letter reiterating the request for the head of the state to sign the decrees appointing Lia Olguta Vasilescu to Deputy PM and Minister for Regional Development and Public Administration, and Mircea Draghici to Minister of Transport.

President Klaus Iohannis signed on Monday the decrees appointing Eugen Teodorovici acting Minister for Regional Development, and Rovana Plumb acting Minister of Transport, the Presidential Administration informs.

Prime Minister Viorica Dancila sent to President Klaus Iohannis the proposals for the designation of the interim ministers for the Transport and Regional Development portfolios, Rovana Plumb and Eugen Teodorovici, to ensure the continuity of activity in the two fields, announced a press release of the Government.

PSD (Social Democrat Party, major at rule, ed. n.) Secretary General Codrin Stefanescu said on Thursday at Realitatea private TV station that President Klaus Iohannis has signed the decrees for the vacancy of the two posts of ministers - Transport and Regional Development, but has not made any announcement regarding the Government's proposals for new ministers.

Bucharest, Dec 31 /Agerpres/ - Prime Minister Viorica Dancila stated, on Sunday, that she had a discussion with President Klaus Iohannis in which she told him that it is important to have the government at full capacity on January 1, when Romania takes over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Prime minister Viorica Dancila on Thursday said at an informal meeting with the media that she intends to talk to president Klaus Iohannis about the replacement of the transport and regional development ministers, even on Friday, on the sidelines of the CSAT (Superior Council for Country's Defence, ed. n.) meeting.
