There are memorials across Serbia and Kosovo to commemorate hundreds of people who died during NATO's 78-day bombing campaign against Yugoslavia, which began on March 24, 1999 and is being marked with an official commemoration in Belgrade on Wednesday evening.

Former intelligence official Vlado Dragicevic told the Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunals in The Hague on Thursday that Slobodan Milosevic and some of his close allies did not trust Serbian State Security Service, SDB chief Jovica Stanisic, who is being retried for committing wartime crimes in collaboration with Milosevic and others.

The urn containing the ashes of Mirjana Markovic, widow of former Serbian and Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic, was buried next to her late husband in the garden of their family home in the eastern Serbian town of Pozarevac on Saturday.

In the abuse of office case, Markovic was accused of inciting Zivka Cica Knezevic, who at that time was a Serbian government secretary and a member of the government housing commission to give an apartment to Ilona Pesic, a woman who babysat Markovic's grandson.

Mirjana Markovic, the widow of the former president of Yugoslavia, Slobodan Milosevic, died in hospital in Moscow on Sunday, Serbian media reported.

Markovic is reported to have undergone surgery several times in Russia recently, after which her condition deteriorated. The cause of death was not immediately made public.
