British and Bulgarian officials will jointly investigate whether there is a link between the poisoning of Russian spy Sergei Scripal in Salisbury and Bulgarian businessman Emilian Gebrev in Sofia. This was made clear after a meeting of British Ambassador Emma Hopkins with Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, Chief Prosecutor Sotir Tsatsarov and Interior Minister Mladen Marinov.

The visit of Bulgaria's Chief Prosecutor Sotir Tsatsarov and Interior Minister Mladen Marinov to Abu Dhabi continues on 5th of February, reports BNT. 

They are there at the invitation of the UAE Attorney General Dr Hamad Al Shamsi. The main topics of the talks are cooperation in penal criminal matters and the fight against organised crime and terrorism.

Denmark supports Bulgaria to join Schengen, Inger Støjberg, the Minister of Immigration and Integration of Denmark said on 30th of January during her visit to Bulgaria, reports BNT. 

She visited Capitan Andreevo checkpoint and observed the security of the border with Turkey.

Turkey's interior minister and his delegation on Friday paid an official visit to the Bulgarian capital Sofia, reported Yenisafak News.

During the visit, Süleyman Soylu met with his Bulgarian counterpart Mladen Marinov and Prime Minister Boyko Borisov. Both meetings were closed to the media.

The head of Sofia Directorate of Interior, Ivaylo Ivanov, has been nominated for Secretary General of the Ministry of Interior, Minister Mladen Marinov said at a briefing in the Council of Ministers, Focus News Agency reports.

His nomination has been submitted to the Council of Ministers, it will then be submitted to the President for an appointment decree.

The Sofia District Court (SCC) imposed the smallest measure of custody - a petition to the 22-year-old man who was arrested on Thursday night for spraying on the Soviet army monument. The prosecutor's office accused him of hooliganism, demanded the court's permanent arrest and refused to negotiate with the defendant's defense to conclude an agreement, reports Dnevink. 

Bulgaria has received a far more positive verdict than Romania in this year's European Commission Cooperation and Verification Mechanism, CVM report, published on Tuesday.

All branches of government have welcomed the document, with the State Prosecution writing that it is "very satisfied".

The European Commission's report objectively reflects the aspirations of all institutions in the country to reform the judicial system. The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva, the Minister of Justice Tsetska Tsacheva and the Interior Minister Mladen Marinov commented in the Council of Ministers on 13th of November.

There has been an increase in attempts to illegally cross Bulgaria's border with Turkey and Greece, as well as an increase in the number of prevented attempts for the period from August to October 24, Interior Minister, Mladen Marinov, said during Parliament's question time on 26th of October.

The government's programme identifies the fight against human trafficking and cybercrime as a priority, Interior Minister Mladen Marinov said at a conference on Trafficking in Human Beings and Cybercrime: Ties, Counteraction and Prevention, Focus News Agency reports.
