Votes for the party increased by 15 per cent and the SPP secured three seats in the Serbian parliament. But despite this success, questions about Muamer Zukorlic's death overshadowed its victory in Sandzak.

"As part of the investigation, a statement was taken from Usame Zukorlic [son of Muamer Zukorlic], and then an order was given to exhume the body of the late Muamer Zukorlic, with which the family agreed," the prosecutor's office told Radio Sto Plus on Thursday.

The sudden death of Bosniak strongman Muamer Zukorlic has shocked the mainly Muslim region, which straddles Serbia and Montenegro, and where he left a unique mark.

In mid-December, a group of men, some of them armed, set up a roadblock at a construction site in the southern Serbian town of Novi Pazar, where an Islamic centre was being built by the Islamic Community of Serbia.

This was decided today by the Serbian Parliament.
Deputies voted for amendments to the law on the election of MPs and local elections, submitted by the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) parliamentary group, which, among other things, provide for a reduction in census.

The Serbian authorities have put MP Muamer Zukorlic under police protection after he received several threats from Islamists on social networks, the Bosniak party leader said on Tuesday. 

BELGRADE - Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians (SVM) leader Istvan Pastor on Tuesday said Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic seemed to be under pressure over who would become the new PM.

Pastor said this after consultations with Vucic about the new PM, but declined to elaborate on the statement, adding it was his personal impression.

Branko Stamenkovic, a prosecutor for high technology crime, has ordered Serbian police to gather information about the people behind the Facebook pages called "Army of Sandzak".

There are several pages bearing the name of Sandzak Army, mostly set up in the last couple of weeks. None has more than 120 members.

NOVI PAZAR - Mevlud Dudic has been inaugurated as the new leader of the Islamic Community in Serbia, replacing Muamer Zukorlic.

Grand Mufti of the Islamic Community in Bosnia-Herzegovina Husein Kavazovic presented Dudic with the document that inaugurated him.
