One hundred and one years ago, Ataturk's army expelled my great-grandmother and her family from Yeronda, now known as Didim, their ancestral homeland in Anatolia. I actively campaign for the American and Canadian governments to recognize the Greek genocide. I constantly criticize Ankara's democratic back-sliding, mistreatment of minorities and aggressive foreign policy.

Türkiye marks 108th anniversary of Anafartalar Victory

Turks gathered to pay their tributes to fallen soldiers in the northwestern province of Çanakkale on the 108th anniversary of Anafartalar Victory, marked with a ceremony in Conkbayırı located on the historic Gelibolu Peninsula.

A large number of protocol members and guests also attended the ceremony held in front of the Atatürk Monument on Aug. 10.

Bandırma Ferry Museum welcomes record number of visitors

In the first six months of the year, a record-breaking number of people have visited the Bandırma Ferry Museum, a replica of the historical ferry on which Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and other high military officials arrived in the northern province of Samsun to initiate the Turkish War of Independence on May 19, 1919.

Honorary cycling tour completed in capital

Starting from the Central Anatolian province of Sivas, a total of 100 cyclists have finished a bicycle race held to honor the establishment of modern Türkiye a century ago.

The race, organized by the Presidency with the participation of 100 athletes from 16 teams in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Republic, started on Aug. 1.
