SNS HQ drama ends, gunman disarmed, taken away

BELGRADE - An armed man burst into the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) headquarters around 9.30 CET on Sunday threatening to commit suicide, but was quickly disarmed by the police and taken away in an ambulance.

Consultations with the public prosecutor as to the further steps are currently underway, Serbian Interior Ministry (MUP) said.

BELGRADE -- The Social-Police Front (SPF), an organization gathering police trade unions, said they found the accusations of "causing a coup" to be "funny and sad."

The organization's representatives said on Friday they would "not allow to be put in the same basket as criminals."

Faculties demand commission to examine Stefanovic's thesis

BELGRADE - Ten Faculties of the state-owned University of Belgrade (UB), gathered in the Academic Council of Social and Humanistic Sciences, will request setting up of a commission to examine the doctoral thesis of Serbian Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic, Council member and Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy Prof. Milos Arsenijevic told Tanjug on Tuesday.
