Driton Rugova, police spokesperson for Peje/Pec region, told BIRN that Svetislav Veric's house suffered material damages from the fire set by unknown persons.

Kosovo on Thursday declared two groups operating in the Serb-majority north of Kosovo Civilna Zastita (Civil Protection) and Brigada Sever (North Brigade) terrorist organisations.

Kosovo Serb politician Nenad Rasic, the head of Progressive Democratic Party, told BIRN on Tuesday after the arrest of eight people in connection with the attack on his son Nikola that he believes the assault was politically motivated.

"This was not a fight between adolescents but an attempted murder," Rasic said of the attack on Monday outside a school in the village of Lapnaselo.

The head of the Social Democratic Union, SDU, has accused the Belgrade-backed party representing Kosovo Serbs, Srpska Lista, SL, of trying to ensure the election of sympathetic MPs among Kosovo's non-Serb minorities communities.

Duda Balje made the accusation during a debate hosted in Pristina by BIRN Kosovo's Jeta Xharra on Wednesday.

"Although he announced that he would have to respect the result of the Serb List due to the pressure of the international community, Kurti tried to belittle Serbian people's victory by telling lies and uttering insults, demeaning the unity shown by the Serbian people on the October 6 elections", Serb List announced last night in the media statement regarding Kurti's interview given to N1.

Vladeta Kostic, the candidate of the Belgrade-backed Civic Initiative "Srpska", was elected as the new mayor of Gracanica on Sunday with 65 per cent of the votes.

GRACANICA - The Serb-majority town of Gracanica, near Pristina in central Kosovo-Metohija, is holding early mayoral elections Saturday.

A total of 22,229 eligible voters are given to choose between four candidates at 27 polling places.

GRACANICA, - MP in the Kosovo parliament and candidate for Gracanica mayor Nenad Rasic condemned the graffiti of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) written on the walls of the Orthodox church in Lipljan, and qualified the incident as an act of vandalism and a crime.
