Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria has secured a resounding victory over Steve Johnson (US) in the first round of the Brisbane International tennis tournament.

Dimitrov has made it past Johnson at 6:2, 6:3 in his first win for the year.

The game was interrupted briefly at 4:2 during the first set due to strong winds which led the heavy rainfall into the partly covered tennis court.

The highest ranking Bulgarian male tennis player Grigor Dimitrov reached the semifinals of the men's doubles competition of the Brisbane International Tournament.

In the second round, Dimitrov and his Japanese partner Kei Nishikori defeated Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut from France with 4:6, 6:1, 10:7 in a match which lasted 70 minutes.

MELBOURNE - Serbian tennis player Nenad Zimonjic and Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi of Pakistan reached the doubles fourth round at the Australian Open in Melbourne, after defeating Pablo Carreno Busta and Guillermo Garcia-Lopez of Spain 7-6 (11-9), 7-4 on Friday morning (CET).

INDIAN WELLS - Serbia's Nenad Zimonjic and Canada's Daniel Nestor have been ousted from the 2014 BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells after losing their second-round match to the all-French pairing of Nicolas Mahut/Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 2-1 on Tuesday.

ROTTERDAM - Serbia's Nenad Zimonjic and Canada's Daniel Nestor were successful in the Rotterdam opener on Wednesday.

In the first round, they outlasted American-Canadian pair James Cerretan/Adil Shamasdin 6-4, 3-6, 10-5.
