Gastronomos Quality Awards pay tribute to border regions
The 16th Gastronomos Quality Awards event of Kathimerini's Gastronomos magazine expressed gratitude to Greeks harnessing their creative powers in the country's border regions. These producers and processors of fine Greek food were singled out and honored for 2023 by the magazine's team.
More support for Athens cinemas under threat
A press conference was held by Greek cinema associations at a packed Astor movie theater in downtown Athens on Tuesday, calling for the rescue of the Ideal, Astor and Irida cinemas, which are at immediate risk of closure. In a pre-recorded message, Greek-French director Costa-Gavras urged Culture Minister Lina Mendoni to intervene.

TBM ready to start work on Line 4
Engineers of the AVAX-led consortium building Athens' new 13-kilometer metro line stand next to a tunnel boring machine (TBM) cutter head at the Katehaki site. Following consultations with local engineers, German tunneling company Herrenknecht supplied two approximately 100-meter long and 1,500-ton TBMs with a diameter of 9.5 meters.

Ancient art as a key to understanding mental health

National Library displays Leonardo da Vinci manuscripts
Two women peruse a display case at the National Library of Greece, which recently inaugurated a tribute to the first Renaissance man, Leonardo da Vinci. The tribute at the library's new home at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center on Athens's southern coast comprises a series of events over 2019, marking the 500-year anniversary of the Italian polymath's death.
French, German envoys express solidarity with Kathimerini
The ambassadors of France and Germany to Greece, Christophe Chantepy and Jens Ploetner respectively, visited the offices of Kathimerini in Athens Tuesday, a day after a bomb seriously damaged the facade of the building, to express their solidarity with the management and staff at the newspaper and Skai TV, which is also headquartered in the building.
Paying tribute to a Greek music legend
Kathimerini was granted access to the home of Manos Hadjidakis, one of 20th century's most prominent Greek composers, to watch rehearsals for the Manos Hadjidakis Cycle, a series of performances by the Greek National Opera at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center.
