Zisis leads AEK to its fifth Greek Cup in basketball

AEK defeated Promitheas Patras on Sunday to win the Greek Cup in Iraklio, its second in the last three years, in what was the first Cup final since 1999 without Panathinaikos or Olympiakos.

The Yellows of Athens fought hard to beat last season's league finalist with a 61-57 score in a very tight game that could have swung either way.

Zisis returns to AEK to lead it to triumph at Peristeri

Greece legend Nikos Zisis returned to the local league on Saturday. He helped AEK beat rival Peristeri away and consolidate itself on the second spot of the Basket League.

Zisis, a gold medallist at the 2005 Eurobasket, has decided to end his career at the professional club where he made his name before spending a decade and a half abroad.

AEK wasted a glorious chance to make a second consecutive Basketball Champions League Final Four and will have to relinquish its crown after crashing out to Bamberg in the tournament's quarterfinals on Wednesday.

Fenerbahçe Ülker edged Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv 74-75 in overtime on April 20 to sweep the Turkish Airlines Euroleague best-of-five series and clinch a ticket to Madrid for the 2015 Final Four. 

The Istanbul club, which made the job against the defending champions look easy, will make its first ever Final Four appearance May 15-17. 

Turkish clubs pursue victories in Euroleague

Two Turkish clubs will be out to continue their bids to advance in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague tonight in the sixth round of Top 16 clashes.

Fenerbahçe Ülker returns home to Istanbul to play visiting Laboral Vitoria, while Emporio Armani Milan hopes to snap its two-game home losing streak when it hosts Anadolu Efes.
