Djokovic to also play in Cincinnati doubles

CINCINNATI - Serbia's top-ranked tennis player Novak Djokovic will also be playing in the men's doubles event at this season's Cincinnati Masters tournament alongside compatriot Nikola Cacic, US media have reported.

Djokovic, who has previously announced he would be competing in the singles event at Cincinnati this season, won the singles title at the tournament in 2018 and 2020.

Alcaraz beats Djokovic in Wimbledon final

LONDON - Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz has claimed the Wimbledon title by defeating Serbian Novak Djokovic 1-6, 7-6 (8-6), 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 in the final on Sunday.

The 20-year-old Spaniard won after nearly five hours of play.

The title is his first at Wimbledon and his second career Grand Slam title as he also won the US Open last season.

He was defeated in five sets after a great fight by Carlos Alcaraz, the Spaniard won 1:6, 7:6 (6), 6:3, 3:6, 6:4.
He thus became the third youngest champion in the history of Wimbledon.
"I thought I would have trouble with you only on clay, and maybe hard court, but now it's a different story from this year, obviously," Djokovic had said on court of Carlos Alcaraz.

The best Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic matched the record of Swiss Roger Federer for the number of Grand Slam semi-finals.
"At the end of the day, I don't like to think too much time about statistics," Djokovic said when told that he had just matched Roger Federer's record of Grand Slam semi-finals.
