Foreign Affairs Minister Teodor Melescanu attended on Wednesday and Thursday the NATO ministerial meeting, which took place in Washington in order to mark 70 years since the establishment of the North Atlantic Alliance.

In Washington D.C. on Wednesday, Romania's Minister-delegate for European Affairs George Ciamba held bilateral meetings with U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Steven Terner Mnuchin and U.S. senator Ron Johnson (R-Wis), chairman of the U.S. Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.

The embassies of twelve states that are Romania's international partners and allies, including France, the US and Germany, express concerns about the rule of law in Romania and call on all parties involved in drafting emergency government ordinances modifying justice sector laws "to avoid changes that would weaken the rule of law and Romania's ability to fight crime or corruption".

Romania's Minister-delegate for European Affairs George Ciamba on Friday had a series of bilateral meetings with Bulgaria's Deputy Foreign Minister Emilia Kraleva Denitsa Zheleva, a foreign policy adviser to Bulgaria's prime minister, on the side-lines of the fifth meeting of the Romania-Bulgaria High-Level Co-operation Council.
