American companies rank fourth among direct foreign investors in Bulgaria, said Olivier Marquette, president of the American Chamber of Commerce (ACC) in Bulgaria, during a business breakfast organized by the Chamber with the participation of Prime Minister Academician Nikolai Denkov, government ministers and ACC members.

As of last night Bulgaria has its first two world champions from the Dubai 2019 World Para Championship. Ruzhdi Ruzdhi and Hristiyan Stoykov won the gold in the shot put and 1,500 m run respectively. They are part of the official team of the Bulgarian Paralympic Federation led by Iliya Lalov.

At a traditional annual government-to-business meeting organized by the American Chamber of Commerce, its head Olivier Marquette identified the key sectors for US-Bulgaria cooperation: digital technology and artificial intelligence, cybersecurity. He recalled Westinghouse's readiness to participate more actively in the nuclear energy sector.

Brussels — US company AES remains committed to its Bulgarian power assets as it deals with changes in market structure, in its generation agreements and in air quality controls, the president of AES Bulgaria, Olivier Marquette, told S&P Global Platts in an interview.

AES Bulgaria, the local unit of  NYSE-listed AES Corporation has said it will provide all the necessary information to assist a possible inspection of alleged irregularities in the energy sector by the country's Chief Prosecutor's Office as it had done in previous inspections.  

US-based AES has welcomed the deal it signed with Bulgaria to amend the long-term power purchase agreement which its Bulgarian power plant AES 3C Maritza East 1 has with state-owned National Electricity Company (NEK).
