Another mine disabled in Black Sea

Turkish authorities have disabled a mine in the Black Sea, the Defense Ministry said on Oct. 19, in the fourth such incident since the start of the Ukraine war.

"A mine was detected off Kıyıköy... and has been secured and neutralized," the ministry tweeted.

The Marmara province of Kırklareli's Kıyıköy district is located less than 100 kilometers (60 miles) from the Bosphorus.

Nearly 1,600 terrorists ‘neutralized’ since beginning of 2021

At least 1,595 terrorists were neutralized in counterterror operations carried out in the past seven months in Turkey, the Defense Ministry said on July 29.

Speaking at a press briefing, Defense Ministry spokeswoman Major Pınar Kara stated that the fight against terrorism continued with increasing intensity and pace.

Turkey ‘neutralized’ 1,162 terrorists in 2021: Defense Ministry

Turkish forces have neutralized 1,162 terrorists in operations within the country and outside its borders this year, the National Defense Ministry said on May 30. 

The terrorists were neutralized in 181 large- and medium-scale operations, ministry spokeswoman Maj. Pınar Kara told a news briefing.

Turkey on March 8 accused Greece of sending assault boats near its coast.

Turkish National Defense Ministry spokeswoman Maj. Pınar Kara told a news conference that Greece continued to deploy naval vessels to demilitarized islands in the eastern Aegean Sea, sending assault boats to Meis island just a few miles from Turkey.
