Elon Musk, after acquiring Twitter for USD44 billion in 2022, dismissed several top executives, including Parag Agrawal, Ned Segal, Vijaya Gadde, and Sean Edgett. Subsequently, Agrawal and other former executives have filed a lawsuit against Musk, alleging that he withheld USD 128 million in severance payments. Musk later renamed Twitter as X.

Elon Musk took control of Twitter and fired its top executives late on Oct. 27 in a deal that puts one of the leading platforms for global discourse in the hands of the world's richest man.

Following the takeover, Musk tweeted that the "the bird is freed," referencing the company's iconic avian logo.

In a filing on Aug.4, Twitter rejected counter claims made by Musk as he fights to walk away from the deal he inked in April to buy the company.

Elon Musk announced on July 8 that he will abandon his tumultuous $44 billion offer to buy Twitter after the company failed to provide enough information about the number of fake accounts. Twitter immediately fired back, saying it would sue the Tesla CEO to uphold the deal.

Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal announced an all-hands meeting to employees in an email on June 13, saying they'd be able to submit questions in advance, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal tweeted the news, which followed a weekend of Musk tweets suggesting possible changes to Twitter, including making the site ad-free. Nearly 90% of Twitter's 2021 revenue came from ads.

Twitter has reported that revenue and its user base grew less than expected, but the platform stuck with ambitious growth targets for the coming years.
