Patriarch Daniel: With the help of God, we consecrated the Altar of the National Cathedral
Patriarch Daniel of the Romanian Orthodox Church (BOR) voiced his hope on Sunday that, three years from now, the mosaic painting of the People's Salvation Cathedral be sanctified, whose Altar was consecrated in the presence of His Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Patra and members of the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church.

Casino firm 'hiding' from authorities

Port officials intercept large cache of smuggled cigarettes in Patra
A 36-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday after port authorities in Patra found more than 1.8 million illicit cigarettes stashed inside a purposely-built cache of his truck.
According to the coast guard, port authority teams searching vehicles for drugs discovered packs of cigarettes hidden inside large metallic cylinders that were attached on nine large pallets.

Greek banks are adopting a tougher stance toward entrepreneurs who do not service their obligations, by moving ahead with the direct sale of major enterprises' bad loans to funds.
The sales planned will not only concern large portfolio transfers but also individual loan sales, even those of small or medium-sized companies.
