The upcoming Bonn Climate Change Conference is set to kick off next week at the World Convention Center in Bonn, Germany, and is designed to prepare for the UN Climate Change Conference COP27 which is scheduled for November this year in Egypt.

Spain proposed the 25th International Conference on Climate (COP 25) to be held in Madrid, Chilean President Sebastian Pinera announced today, cited by France Press.

Chile will host the UN conference scheduled for December, but yesterday Pinera said the country is refusing to organize the forum because of the social crisis it is experiencing, BTA reported.

Stunned participants at U.N. climate talks in Marrakesh insisted Nov. 9 that climate change denier Donald Trump cannot derail the global shift to clean energy, although some called his victory in U.S. presidential elections a "disaster." 

The Paris Agreement to combat climate change became international law on Nov. 4, putting pressure on countries to take action to slash greenhouse gas emissions and limit global warming. 

This action comes after record-fast ratification by nations reassembling next week for a fresh round of U.N. climate talks.
