Greek FM starts 3-day trip to Turkey on Saturday

Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos starts a two-day visit to Turkey on Saturday for talks with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu.

Venizelos, who is also Greece’s deputy premier, is further scheduled to meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The visit comes amid tension over energy spoils in the Eastern Mediterranean region.

Washington is pressuring Turkey to allow the use of the Incirlik airbase to U.S. war planes attacking extremists of the Islamic State.

"You cannot bring women and men into equal positions, that is against nature because their nature is different," Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said.

During a Monday meeting dedicated to women and justice he reminded of the special status attributed to women by Islam, saying women should strive to be "equivalent, rather than equal."

Biden heads to Istanbul amid tension over Cyprus EEZ violation

US Vice President Joe Biden is scheduled to meet with Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu and Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew during a visit to Istanbul this weekend, according to a report by the Athens News Agency on Wednesday.

Talks are expected to focus on the Cyprus issue and developments in the eastern Mediterranean region.

Turkey’s Bank Asya reported a net loss in the third quarter partly due to a rise in bad loans, but said it was hopeful of a turnaround following the political turmoil that has surrounded it this year.

About USD 615 M have been earmarked so far on the construction of Ak Saray, Turkey's impressive presidential palace, the country's Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek announced.

Out of the total, some USD 432 M has already been spent on building Ak Saray, while another USD 135 M is allocated for 2015, Hürriyet Daily News quoted Şimşek as telling Parliament's budget committee on Tuesday.
