With a 9.6% hike year-on-year, Turkey's exports registered the all-time high February figure at $16 billion, the country's trade minister said on March 2. 

The country also saw a 9.8% increase in imports, reaching $19.4 billion during the same period, Ruhsar Pekcan said at a meeting in the capital Ankara where she revealed preliminary foreign trade data for February.

Turkey and Azerbaijan have set a target of reaching a trade volume of $15 billion by 2023, the Turkish vice president said on Feb. 18. 
Speaking at the Turkey-Azerbaijan Business Forum, Fuat Oktay said that apart from the brotherhood between Turkey and Azerbaijan, the two countries are important political and trade partners.

Turk Eximbank aims to increase its export support by 11% year-on-year to over $50 billion in 2021, the Turkish trade minister said on Feb. 5. 

Speaking at Turk Eximbank 2020 Operating Results and 2021 Targets Meeting, Ruhsar Pekcan said the bank's export support rate is projected to rise to 27.7% this year.

The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) on Jan. 22 launched its fifth regional center in Istanbul, aiming to develop its ties across Eurasia, the Middle East and North Africa, southeastern Europe, and Southeast Asia.

Turkish contracting companies oversaw $14.4 billion in projects abroad last year, Trade Minister Ruhsar Pekcan said on Jan. 19, adding that the figure was expected to climb to $15 billion in 2021.

Turkey set up a trade center on Jan. 8 in the U.S. city of Chicago to expand Turkish exporters' network and to ensure products exist in target countries with their name, brand and quality.   

Six Turkish ministers gathered on Dec. 30 to discuss the country's reform agenda, the host minister said.

The free trade agreement signed by Turkey and the United Kingdom on Dec. 29 will make the two countries' bilateral trade target of $20 billion reachable, a top Turkish official said on Dec. 30. 

Turkey is focused on macroeconomic stability with transparent policies as well as fast and comprehensive reforms in the economy and law fields, as part of confidence-building measures, the country's industry and technology minister said on Dec. 7.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Nov. 26 welcomed Qatar's Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani with an official ceremony in the capital Ankara.

Al Thani arrived in Ankara to attend the sixth meeting of the Turkey-Qatar Supreme Strategic Committee.

He was welcomed by a ceremony at the presidential complex, and the two leaders met one-to-one following the event.
