Rumen Radev

President Rumen Radev held a meeting at 2 Dondukov street with the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Bulgaria Dong Xiaojun at which he called for strengthening the international cooperation against the coronavirus.

Prime Minister Borissov announced that it was of utmost importance now to protect all medical professionals - doctors, nurses, laboratory assistant and medical orderly  as he added that every medical professional who is on the frontline in the fight with the coronavirus epidemic will receive an additional remuneration of 500 Euro /1000 BGN/ per month.

Public health starts with the care of the medical staff, Rumen Radev emphasized

Head of State Rumen Radev discussed today the increased migration pressure along the external land EU borders in a telephone talk with his German counterpart President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. The escalation of tension in the Middle East and the ensuing risks for the EU were among the topics of the conversation, the presidential press office reported.

President Rumen Radev and Prime Minister of Montenegro Dusko Markovic, who is visiting Sofia, discussed at a meeting held at 2 Dondukov street promoting trade and investment exchange between Bulgaria and Montenegro and improving connectivity in Southeastern Europe. The meeting was also attended by Vice-president Iliana Iotova, the presidential office reported.

Today - March 3, Bulgaria celebrates its national holiday - the day of Liberation. 141 years ago (18 February in old style), Russia and Turkey signed the San Stefano Peace Treaty in 1878, which provides for the rebuilding of the Principality of Bulgaria.

Tomorrow's official ritual commemorating the 142nd anniversary of the liberation of Bulgaria on Shipka peak is being cancelled on the recommendation of the national operational headquarters for countering the spread of the novel coronavirus.

The monument of freedom remains open to the public who wish to pay their respects.
