Lebanese Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri stepped down on July 15 after failing to form the government for months.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on June 26 received Lebanon's Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri.

Erdoğan met with Hariri at Vahdettin Palace in Istanbul after attending a groundbreaking ceremony. The meeting was held closed-doors and no details of the meeting were made available.

Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan welcomed Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri on Jan. 8 in Istanbul. 

Erdoğan and Hariri, who is assigned to form the new government in Lebanon, held a one-on-one meeting at the Vahdettin Palace in Istanbul, according to Turkey's Communications Directorate.

Lebanon's public prosecutor ordered the release on Jan. 19 of more than 30 people detained the previous evening, according to the National State News agency, in the worst day of violence since protests erupted three months ago.

The public prosecutor said all 34 arrested are to be released, except those with other pending cases.

Lebanese President Michel Aoun on Oct. 30 asked Prime Minister Saad Hariri to continue as a caretaker premier, until a new government is formed.

Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos was on an official visit to Beirut on Thursday, where he stressed the importance of a trilateral partnership that has been forged between Greece, Cyprus and Lebanon.

Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos will pay an official two-day visit to Lebanon on Thursday and Friday at the invitation of his counterpart, Michel Aoun.
Pavlopoulos is scheduled to have a private meeting with the Aoun on Thursday at 11.50 a.m. which will be followed by a joint press conference.

Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras is on Monday to meet his Lebanese counterpart Saad Hariri on the sidelines of a summit of European Union and Arab leaders taking place at the Egyptian coastal resort of Sharm el-Sheikh.

In comments to the forum on Sunday, Tsipras said Greece aimed to become a "catalyst" and a "bridge" in efforts to boost EU-Arab dialogue.
