Urša Bogataj wins gold medal, Nika Križnar bronze at Winter Olympics

Beijing – Slovenian ski jumpers Urša Bogataj and Nika Križnar made history at the Winter Olympics in Zhangjiakou on Saturday, as Bogataj has won the gold and Križnar won the bronze medal. It is the first time that more than one Slovenian athlete has made the Olympic podium in the same event.

Nika Križnar wins Ski Jumping Globe

Tchaikovsky – Nika Križnar has won the overall Ski Jumping World Cup to secure the first ever Crystal Globe trophy in the discipline in the women’s competition for Slovenia.

The 21-year-old Slovenian placed third in today’s event in Tchaikovsky, Russia, to pip Japanese Sara Takanashi to the trophy by nine points after the second series was cancelled due to strong winds.

Ski jumper Križnar finishes on podium but loses overall lead

Tchaikovsky – Slovenian ski jumper Nika Križnar finished third in the women’s World Cup event in Russia’s Chaykovsky on Friday, but this was not enough for her to retain the overall lead in the competition. One event to go in the season, Križnar is trailing Sara Takanashi of Japan.

Ski jumper Ema Klinec wins World Championship in Oberstdorf

Oberstdorf – Ema Klinec won a ski jumping event at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oberstdorf, Germany on Thursday becoming the first Slovenian female ski jumping world champion. The defending champion, Norwegian Maren Lundby, won silver, while Japanese Sara Takanashi won bronze.

Ski jumper Križnar remains overall leader

Rasnov – Slovenian ski jumper Nika Križnar remains the overall World Cup leader in the women’s competition, having won her ninth career podium on Friday with a third-place finish in Romania.

Križnar managed jumps of 92 and 99 metres on the small hill in Rasnov to finish behind Sara Takanashi of Japan and the Norwegian Silje Opseth. Slovenia’s Ema Klinec was fourth.
