EU to propose to the IOC to hold Olympic Marathon in Athens, says Schinas

The European Union could propose to the International Olympic Committee and Thomas Bach for the Marathon to be held on its original route, in Athens, regardless of where the Olympic Games take place, said Vice President of the European Commission Margaritis Schinas shortly before the start of the 40th Authentic Athens Marathon on Sunday.

Schinas: Inclusion in European project ‘changed country’s fate’

European Commission Vice President for promoting the European Way of Life Margaritis Schinas has issued a message marking the 40th anniversary of Greece's membership of the European Union.

In his statement, Schinas said that Greece's inclusion "in the first tier of European integration" over the past four decades had "changed the country's fate."

EU officials visit Greek-Turkish border amid migrant surge

The presidents of the executive European Commission, the European Council (which represents national governments) and the European Parliament - Ursula von der Leyen, Charles Michel and David Sassoli - have arrived in northern Greece for a planned tour at the country's land border with Turkey.
The EU officials were met at the airport by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
