Top Turkish official meets with Russian, French diplomats in New York

Turkey's Deputy Foreign Minister Sedat Önal met on Sept. 24 with senior diplomats from Russia and France and discussed agenda topics with a top U.N. official in New York at the 76th U.N. General Assembly. 

Önal met his Russian counterpart, Sergey Vershinin, and discussed developments in the political process in Libya and Syria, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said on Twitter.

US, Turkey discuss strength of ties, opportunities ahead: Washington

Senior U.S. and Turkish diplomats discussed the ongoing "strength of the U.S.-Turkey relationship and opportunities to deepen cooperation," the State Department said on Sept. 17. 

Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman and Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Sedat Önal met as part of this year's U.S.-Turkey High-Level Political Dialogue.

Turkey, Egypt desire to make progress in areas under discussion

Turkey and Egypt have agreed to continue their consultations confirming their desire to make progress in areas under discussion and the need for further steps to facilitate normalization of their relations, a foreign ministry statement said on Sept. 8 after two-days long reconciliation talks.


Senior Egyptian official due in Ankara for ties

Turkey and Egypt will hold the second round of political consultations next week in Ankara as part of mutual efforts to mend broken ties.


The Turkish Foreign Ministry announced on Aug. 31 that Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt Hamdi Loza will be in Ankara on Sept. 7-8 and will meet Deputy Foreign Minister Sedat Önal on Sept. 7 and 8.

Cairo hails Ankara's efforts to normalize relations

Egypt has praised recent steps by Turkey towards normalizing ties between the two countries.

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said in a TV interview late on July 3 that the softening of criticism towards the Egyptian government by Turkey-based opposition channels was preparing the ground for normalizing relations.
