Casualties in southern Ukraine strikes, after Russia quits Snake Island
At least 17 people were killed and dozens wounded on July 1 in missile strikes on Ukraine's Odessa region, a day after Russian troops abandoned positions on a strategic island in a major setback to the Kremlin's invasion.
The news came after NATO leaders wrapped up a summit in Madrid, with US President Joe Biden announcing $800 million in new weapons for Ukraine.
The West does not allow Ukraine to negotiate with Moscow? "The ball is on their side"
Lavrov added that he would gladly accept the invitation of the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, to gather for talks on the territory of Belarus.
"I do not see any possibility for Ukraine to make any proposals, but we will not propose anything either. We presented our proposals a long time ago. Now the ball is on their side," Lavrov said.
Türkiye to host Ukraine grain talks next week: Report
Türkiye next week will host Russian, Ukrainian and U.N. officials for talks aimed at resuming stalled grain exports across the Black Sea, media reported on June 21.
The meeting in Istanbul would be preceded by a visit to Moscow by a Turkish defense delegation this week, CNN Turk cited Turkish presidential sources as saying.
President Erdoğan meets Venezuelan counterpart
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has met with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro who arrived in Turkey late on June 7 for an official visit.
The VTV state channel showed footage of Maduro arriving at the airport in Ankara, where he was received by senior officials of Turkey, an important ally of Venezuela.
